Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou, the oldest of her four siblings, was born on August 8th, 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de-Domme. Her parents, dentists and school teacher have encouraged and supported her from the beginning of her passion for theatre and drama. The initial goal of her of becoming a specialist in monkeys was replaced by her ambition to further study drama and theatre. A quick and successful start to success as well as a swift gain in acclaim made her a promising young actor. Following her studies in 1998 she appeared on an French program for scouting talent on TV called Jeunes Premiers with the support of Canal+ and won Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors prior to launching her acting career in earnest. Tautou has attended an Institut Catholique de Paris in Paris as a young girl and was a student there in high school, has disavowed her Catholic background. The model pursued her career alongside her acting career and is the model for L'Oreal Mont Blanc and Chanel often referred to as The Chanel Muse. Her photography is also a passion and she recently exhibited her work at the Arles festival, under the title Superficial. Her photographs tends to focus on the spotlight and celebrity. Cameras are focused at journalists who have been scrutinising the actress since her unexpected success. Audrey Tautou shot to stardom and international fame with her debut role as the lead in Le Fabuleux Destiny d'Amelie. Amelie earned international acclai commercial success, and received acclaim by awards galas across the world. It is currently the top grossing French language film across the US. In the wake of this achievement, Tautou was featured in many film productions ranging from British dramas like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's long-distance Sunday of fiancailles, and then he moved into Hollywood through Ron Howard's direction of the Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code together with Tom Hanks.
